Qothic Empire

In the land of Vermillion forests, followers of the Unsunken Champion would find refuge. In his name, they would set forth to reforge civilization. Under the watchful eye of The Four, out from the ash rose Qoth, and only under her leadership may the rest of the world rise with her.

The Qothic Empire, commonly known as Qoth, is an empire that inhabits the eastern continent, Calixo, with 9 provinces, and holds a few key colonies throughout Hovehko. Born from the ashes After Starfall, Qoth has grown to be one of the most powerful nations of the modern world.

Geography

Qoth is bordered by the Sea of Triumph in the west and the Sea of Question in the East. The Abyssal Cauldron lies in the south, and takes up most of the Eastern Hemisphere. Great, snowcapped mountains divide the continent in half.

Northern Qoth is lush with forests of extremely tall, vermillion conifers and highland grass of soft ochre. Whereas southern Qoth is dominated by white, birch forests and rolling plains. This fall-like climate persists throughout the entire year.

Government

As an Autocracy, Qoth is led by their emperor, who rules with supreme unilateral authority. The emperum has seen both emperor and empress alike, and succession is dictated by the current ruler, though mostly hereditary in recent history, with the current empress Voxaurdi inheriting the throne from her late father as a child.

Underneath the emperor, is a council of 11 advisors known as the Court of Oxcot, who oversee different specialized aspects of governance, whom of which are informed by 111 representatives from the respective area of society they oversee. The 11 chambers are:

  1. The Chamber of War
  2. The Chamber of Coin
  3. The Chamber of the Gods
  4. The Chamber of Progress
  5. The Chamber of Order
  6. The Chamber of Health and Plague
  7. The Chamber of Labour
  8. The Chamber of Harvest
  9. The Chamber of Colonies and Foreign Lands
  10. The Chamber of Truth
  11. The Chamber of Engines

The function of the Court of Oxcot is to petition and aid the decision-making process of the emperum, though any influence they may have is entirely at the discretion of the emperor. Recently however, emperor Vrythrmoth had drastically increased the relevance of the court, allowing them to handle a larger number of affairs autonomously, oftentimes just signing off on policy without reading it. This has carried into Voxaurdi’s reign as she came into power at the age of 10 and refused any request for a regent to act in her stead, instead using the court heavily in teaching her how to rule effectively.

Outside of the court of Oxcot remains provincial governors that are typically made up and represent the various clans of Qoth and act in authority over their own regions with the power delegated to them through Oxcot.

Military

Second to the Emperum, stands the Lord Commander of the Regions, who controls the Empire’s Army and Navy, and may appoint senior and general officers as they see fit to the war council.

The army and navy is a massive voluntary professional force supplied by multiple private workshop companies. Such supplies include armor, melee weapons, firearms, cannon, battle cranks, and ships.

Species of Qoth

Qoth is home to 5 distinct species:

Ceveran (seh•ver•en)- A tall, but slender cervid species that dominates much of Qoth’s population. The males sport a variety of antlers, with some possessing more than 5 bifurcations. Antler shape and size is determined by some parallel subspecies, and still very much hold a stake in what is perceived as a desirable mate. Ceveran are known to hold many noble and administrative positions in Qothic society, and will certainly let you know about their credentials should you forget your place.

Kunehva (koo•nay•vuh)- Kunehva are a short, stocky lagomorphic race known for their exquisite skills in mining and construction. Given their short stature, they are a strong and hardy people, possessing physical strength that rivals Ceveran. Kuhneva are extremely coordinated, and have been known to build large complexes within days, as well as move large units of soldiers at speed across rugged terrain without so much as getting a toe out of line. A bulk of Qoth’s infrastructure and industrial complexes have been built by them, and can sprawl for miles in the largest cities. Unlike the Ceveran, Kunehva have a more laid back attitude, possess better social skills, and are overall more friendly, even to foreigners.

Abunaax (ah•boo•nax) – The Abunaak are native to the continent of Calixo. Being just primitive tribes during the Great Migration, they have endured many conflicts during the formation of Qoth. Abunaak are noticeably the largest species in Qoth, sporting giant, palmate antlers and wide, heavy shoulders. A quiet people that tends to keep to themselves, one would not find many outside of their native lands. But should an Abunaak be seen outside of their tribes, they tend to be employed in tasks that take advantage of their biology: From freight jobs, to even Heavy Infantry. Many Abunaak are solitary – as is common in their culture and perhaps the reason for their insignificant population. Given their stature and extreme strength, this species poses quite an intimidating presence, dissuading many violations against even their then technologically inferior society during the Colonization of Calixo.

Pokes – (poeks) Pokes are distant cousins of the Kunehva, characterized by their tiny size and big ears. Lacking physical prowess, they are often overlooked by the larger species. But for what they lack in strength they make up tenfold in intelligence. With Pokes being the most brilliant race in Qoth, they are responsible for much of Qoth’s technological progress, and are behind numerous scientific, medicinal, archeological, and philosophical renaissances. Many of their notable inventions include vertical plumbing, vaccines, articulated prosthetics, automatons, the sailing castle, Oxcot’s rail system, and the revolutionary crank engine.

“The Pokes are a race undeserved. They’ve saved countless lives on the battlefields, rediscovered our humble beginnings, and secured the empires prosperity, and yet we treat them lower than the dirt-crawlers (kunehva slur). We as a society and people must look past appearances, and instead regard one for their actions, lest we turn our honor to a muddy gruel, like the worm-ticklers. (Also a Kunehva slur).”Administration of Ceveran Workshops

Equilox (eh•kwee•lox) – A large, equestrian species with sleek bodies and beautiful hair. Culturally known to hold the beauty standards in Qothic society, they have managed to acquire the achievement of somehow being more stuck-up than Ceverans. They have the shortest temper among the Qoth and aren’t the brightest, but their physical form is unmatched and often envied.

Other species – Despite Qoth being historically isolationist and xenophobic in nature, there has been a rising trend of outsiders making residence in Qothic cities such as Oxcot and Dellor ever since a policy shift in the modern Qothic Empire, allowing natives of colonies and friendly nations access to Qoth. These people are most often from Siltria and southeastern Hovehko. Western hunter species are still forbidden, but exceptions are made for Gnomanyans prisoners that earned their freedom in factory colonies, and a small enclave of wuln that originally migrated to Qoth under Rendal that reside in the mountains east of the border.
