Glass

“I want to live, but I feel like I’m hanging from a branch with a sawback latched to my tail. And I’m supposed to think about what I want?”

– Glass

Glass is the protagonist of Tinderkell: Siltria. She is a Gnomanyan woman who fled to the burgeoning country of Siltria. Though the circumstances surrounding her flight remain unknown, she’s hinted that she escaped an incident in her homeland that nearly led to her demise.

During her journey through Siltria, Glass gets accustomed to a new, if not more stable society, encountering strange cultures, technology, factions, and complex political landscapes.

Appearance

Glass is a Gnomanyan Sorrova, which are known to be largest members of their species. However, due to malnutrition, she has not been able to grow to her true height.

Glass has a curvaceous figure, with dull-grey fur. She has tousled, dark-grey hair and pale-green eyes, which are above large freckles. She also has a large, fluffy tail, and her right arm is dark grey. When Glass smiles, her teeth are shown to be very sharp, and tends to sport a noticeable snaggle-tooth when in deep-thought.

Her outfit varies on circumstance. Glass wore a green deel-style jacket, but was forced to discard it during the boarding incident. Which left her with a black, cropped undershirt and leggings with a brown satchel.

When Glass arrived in Cohv, she was provided Zeb’s old clothes: A green, rolled up jacket over a black, long sleeve shirt. She also has a belt which holds up a black apron around her waist, and dark grey trousers. After a trip to the shoemaker, she has acquired black ankle-high boots.

Personality

Despite being illiterate, Glass possesses some charisma, honed from her experience as a barmaid. She frequently cracks jokes (they’re hit or miss), carries conversations, and seeks to defuse tense moments. Glass is also quite cunning and can somewhat grasp foreign concepts rather quickly. In one instance, she managed to convince a cannibal cult she was one of their own, saving Zeb’s life and possibly herself.

Glass has often regarded Gnomanyans, herself included, as awful people and cowards, whether in jest or seriousness. Growing up in a declining nation, possibly being a victim of child abuse (although she does have fond memories of her father), and living under oppressive warlords are likely factors contributing to her flawed moral compass. Her tendency to prioritize self-preservation can sometimes verge on selfishness, and she has shown to be callous towards strangers that have faced misfortune, as misfortune is frequent and expected in Gnomanyan culture. Glass has also lashed out at Zeb for choosing his religious conviction over her friend’s freedom, both due to her unfamiliarity of faith and sense of justice for the man who saved her. Upon turning a new leaf in Siltria, Glass has entertained efforts to be more compassionate, and understanding of others, albeit with some struggle.

For better or for worse, Glass tends to hide details of her past from her inner thoughts, preferring to focus on immediate challenges rather than dwell on memories that may evoke discomfort. However, there are potential events that could cause her to open up, forcibly or willingly.

Skills

Glass was a member of her city’s militia back in Gnomanya, which implies a familiarity with pole weapons and firearms. Though in her own words, she has stated that the quality of her training was subpar. Glass’s dad however, did teach her how to handle a pistol.

She is also athletic. Being able to swim, hold Zeb’s entire bodyweight with her legs, and even carry him far distances.

Like all Sorrova, she’s born with the innate ability to feel The North’s Whisper, allowing her to sense cardinal directions at all times.

As is customary in Gnomanya, Glass can ride tramplers, but it is unknown how long its been since she has rode, as the trampler she grew up with was killed in a tornado.

Glass has mentioned that she can dance, but typically avoids talking about it.

As a native born Gnomanyan, her first language is Wulnic, her name being “Zoditzektzekgwarzhal” or “Zodi”. She only learned the common continental language of Hovehko while in transit to Hovehko.
