Appearance
Different types of squamis can vary greatly in size, from the size of a hand to the size of a crank engine. Typically, they tend to sport a long central fin that runs along its head down to its tail, features hard to spot scales that make up a vivid array of different colors and patterns, and have clawed hands for moving up trees and grabbing objects.
Behavior
While behavior can vary a lot with different types of squamis, within the dominant groups including the best known piya squami, they are regarded as social creatures that tend to live fairly sedentary lives outside of mating, foraging fruits, driving away pests, and hunting for fish in the water.
For some, this social bond even extends to those outside of their species, most notably with the Sorya, to the point where they are considered to have partially self-domesticated themselves. It is not uncommon in Kopothokualassa to see Squami riding on the shoulder, hats of locals, or walking alongside them. Certain Squami are even used to help catch fish for the Sorya.
As for larger Squami, the same bond is not present with people. While some Sorya have shown interest in these ones, the socialization process has been much more difficult, as these Squami tend to see them as rivals. There has however been long time interest to try and form a bond like the Gnomanyans have with the Tramplers.
