This is it. After what seems like a lifetime, your long voyage finally ends today. A new start, a new life for you begins.

You are Glass, a female sorrova from the country known as the Kingdom of Gnomanya.

Well, the Former Kingdom of Gnomanya.
You lived in the reclaimed ruins of a city and worked as a barmaid, with time on the side spent in the local militia. You weren’t left with many skills outside of dealing with drunks and loading a gun you could never afford. Also you don’t know how to read, something you would later discover is kind of important.
After an incident where you worked, you were forced to flee your home, and only managed to escape thanks to a kind stranger that offered to take you far away.

That individual is your new traveling partner, Iron Bottle, a drunkard catoxl with a head so dense not even an iron bottle could knock him out, hence the name.

You both have traveled across a continent by sea, with your final destination being the burgeoning country of Siltria in the east. And today, despite being deliriously seasick, you start your new life.

However, as you are about to make land, you are greeted with a surprise inspection of your vessel.

Not before losing a fight to a door in an attempt for goodies, all while that sexy barrel behind you watched on in disappointment.

When you arrive above deck, you meet Captain Iplyn Delaford and her marines of the Qothic Empire, the dominant faction in this part of the world. They are conducting a search of the ship and passengers.
This normally wouldn’t be cause for concern, if it wasn’t for one aspect of your appearance.

You are part of the same species as Qoth’s arch nemesis, The Confederation of the One-Thousand Islands of Soryaban. The Sorya as they’re called, are notorious for their spycraft, and your chances of being mistakenly profiled as one are very high.

You present your case using your “Alchemical Distribution Specialist” barmaid career to present yourself as an honest yet desirable individual to have in Siltria.

While you presented a good case, they still searched you.

And just so happened to find fireworks you picked up earlier, with one having a sinister looking skull on it, something a Sorya spy most certainly would fancy having.

After Iron fails to vouch for you and gets detained himself, you see your prospects of arriving in Siltria as a free woman diminished. The Qoths detain you as well and bring you aboard.

But don’t worry, it gets even worse.

After a mysterious explosion destroys the ship you traveled on, you get the feeling this will somehow also be your fault.

You were correct.

You jump overboard, and desperately try to escape through the water.

But you end up caught in the grip of the current. Clawing desperately towards the surface, you aren’t quite able to make it all the way to the top.

But as you begin to pass out, you notice a hand reach out and grab you as everything fades to black.
Not exactly how you thought your first day in your new home was going to go.
