heek89 says:
Sober up. Now.

Blukat2 says:
Drunker up. Now.

rocotú says:
You expecting visitors this time of night? Cut him down immediately!
Now now… You can’t win any game if you just flip the table firsthand. You have to buy in!
Viksen says:
Even at these hours, protocol is protocol, Lutemes. Ask for some identification.

You cautiously step forward, “Shama lees, that’s far enough. Who am I speaking with?”
“All things considered, I hope someone of grateful company.” The stranger chirps back. “I’ve been looking around for my boat. It must’ve been unmoored and I’m hoping one of you good men can help me find it before the bustle of morning.”
Tamlin says:
Pull a fast one on the stranger; he must pay you the new late-night docks toll. End the shift with some extra coin, or at least a couple laughs.
Your eyes narrow, “How unfortunate. To lose your boat and then be caught walking around these docks uninvited at this hour. That… just might be a problem for the militia, wouldn’t you say Goncha?”
“I-I mean no quarrell, sir.”
Your lip ever so slightly curls, “Perhaps a contribution to God and community will do you good. Be an upstanding citizen and hand over your pouch, please.”
Goncha speaks up, “Lute.”
“Don’t worry, you balding, oaf. I’ll share.” you mutter.
The stranger chuckles meekly, “Good sir, I fear I’m light on coin at the moment. Perhaps, if you help me search, I can give you some of my cargo.”
“Hmm, perhaps we—” You stop.
You lean in closer.
This “Bovani” has three fingers on his hand.
“Take off your hat.” you demand. Although he stays silent, you repeat yourself, your grip tightening on your hilt. “Are you deaf? I said, take off your hat. You dare deceive us with fake horns? You must have a death wish to mock the Herd.”
“I assure you, sir. They’re not fake.”

You draw your blade, “The toll just increased, wetnose. Everything you have! And pray to your false idols that it’s enough, lest I shove this into your guts!”
The foul hunter slips out a raspy chuckle.

He speaks to you in perfect Herdish, “I confess unto you, for I no longer have masters. My bonds were cast off and my brands flayed harvests ago. You shall nevermore force dominion over any people. For you now stand as fodder for the righteous.”
“May your soul forever stray from the Pasture.”

Y-your legs feel numb! You can’t stand up! Dear Shama, you’ve never bled this much in your life!
You can’t believe that damn got you!
Goncha, that balding bastard will make him pay!

Oh God, there’s another! Where the hell did she come from!?
Where are the longshoremen!? Ehraz you useless son of a whore!
You crawl towards the pinnace but you already feel weaker.

“Gone three weeks and I still have to save his ass.” the long-tailed bitch mutters as she doubles back.
Shama save you! You go to grab your dagger but she prys it out of your fleeting grip.

The sawtoothed whore unbuckles your belt and takes your money.
She runs your pockets as you struggle to keep your neck closed.
You part with everything.

She takes out the Portrait Miniature and stares at it.
Your nephew… And your repulsive sister… You can’t believe she will outlive you!
You break the silence, speaking in a half gurgle, “Y-hghk You’ll— burn f-for this.”

“Someday.”

The Golden Pasture is near…

You are dead.
Your last day was on the 21st of Ovori, 1592.

You are now Glass.

Effrenka turns to Yenkaran as he clutches his shoulder, “Are you okay?”
“The Circle mends…” he sighs, “I almost had him myself.”
She glares at him, “No, you didn’t ‘almost have him yourself’”.
“Come now, Sister. I felled three heretics before this one.”
“And then you fought one with training. Now take those off. You look ridiculous.”
“They worked, didn’t they?”
“Now.”
As Yenkaran reaches for his hat, she points at the dead man. “Drag this one aboard, then we’ll sweep below deck.”
You board the pinnace again but from the gangplank. A few footfalls lead you to the only door to the lower decks. You faintly pick up the sound of Effrenka sniffing as Yenkaran quietly checks the door knob.

“I can smell them inside.” she whispers. “There’s probably more than one.”
“They locked it. Do you think they’ve heard us?” he asks.
“Yes. Real smooth, Yen.”

She looks to you. “Psst! Freckles. Look alive.”

“I was just— checking if he’s okay.”
“Oh, don’t even bother with it; That knife of yours cut deeper.” he jests.
“Heh.…”

“Yen, you have boots. Do us a favor and kick it down.”
“With pleasure, Sister.”
“And you? Eh, keep doing what you’re doing.”
Special thanks to Rick for help with a few frames

I’m interested to see what Effi and Yen’s reaction will be when they find out Glass isn’t part of the Circle. Yen’s particularly interesting: Effi probably going be angry, but she never really trusted Glass so she’s likely expecting her to betray them. But Yen? He had confidence in her, vouched for her and defended her against Effi. Not only… Read more »
Funny enough I think Effi’s empathic drive is still somewhat functioning, in contrast to what Yen’s maladaptive childhood has done to his, and Effi is lowkey frustrated with how he turned out.
Love to see Lutemes get his, smug, joyless bastard he was.
It was really interesting to see Effrenka give him back his family portrait before ensuring his death. Some, bendy sense of morality. I like her.
Yen once again stealing the spotlight though, what a character.
Yitexity, I really love the world you’ve made here.
You know, as suave as Yen is – and for all his talk of the Nanzuul being smug – he’s rather smug himself. While perhaps not as much of a scumbag that Lutemes might have been, because he’s a predator he thinks he has the right to go around and murder grazers for everything they’ve done. While the Nanzuul might… Read more »
Lutemes attacked first without an ounce of coordination with Goncha. Cops go on beats with partners for a reason. They could have double-teamed Yen. So selfish and impulsive.
Poor sod. Also, poor Glass. Man… she is so not cut out for this :p
He’ll be back, and he will have a taste for revenge.
that mf dead as hell, he anit going to be in Tinderkell 2 lol
If Effi truly cares, she would want Yen to get as far away from all of THIS as he can, but for some unexplained reasons he either can’t or won’t leave the group.
Another interesting idea. What if Lutemes and the others Nerkogos members killed were revived, but they are turned into hunters?
It’s so interesting to see the perspectives of each of these people. So wildly different, yet so the same. Each believing it is their right to kill and maim the other. It makes me want to see them all have to work together. All stuck in the same boat, forced to help each other to survive against some, uniting horrific… Read more »
Bit of writing I wanted to share: “But… but… I… killed you!” Yen stumbled back against the wall – a rat trying to make itself smaller to disappear from the fiery orb of a cat’s eye – the lantern hanging the flailing, shaking, and its metallic case shrieking as it hit the wooden wall, before it fell and smashed. The… Read more »
I won’t lie i was expecting a Dark Souls “YOU DIED” after she pried Lute’s hand from his neck.
Just looking at it again guys…. urm…. woah. Wow, things really are getting heated. Yeah, things really took a Weird Route, didn’t they?
I really dislike the Circle now. Do any of you still find Yen suave and charming, or do you guys now want to see his teeth kicked in?
Honestly? The Circle is still some weird cannibal cult; that hasn’t changed just because one of them happens to be suave and charming. Also still honestly, Lutemes was a jerk anyway. “Break the leg of the guy who owes you money for protection against other guy who broke his leg.” One can only root for both of the weird racial… Read more »
And in his final moments lutemes had time to get that slave slur in.
Can only imagine how happy the lightkeeper is about this whole situation.
i dont really care tbh, the fight was entertaining, the thrill of the hunt is ON BABY WOOOOO
i do feel a teensy weensy bad for lute tho, he really should have locked in and now hes locked out… of LIFE
Do you think he can come back? It not out of the question considering it’s a fantasy setting. I honestly think he has a ton of potential.
now that I know Yen is fighting racist slavers I find him more suave and charming
Isn’t Yen also a racist slaver? Didn’t the hunters originally enslave the Bovani?
That was said to have happened a long time ago. If anything, what Yenkaran says to lutemes and the slur from lutemes later implies that Yenkaran himself may have been a slave.
Yen would probably leap at the chance to enslave these guys. Taking control of Siltra and turning it into a slave empire with the hunters in control would be a dream come true for him.
I like him more now
Do you think that if Glass and the others are defeated and captured that the Nerkogos will extract revenge? I had the idea that they’d be so furious for Yenkaran cutting off that guy’s horns that they’d smash his jaw in and pull out his teeth.
Yen is still holding back, no? Effi is more practical and fights better. She’s in tune with her savage. But what if Yen was to snap?
Something is down there…. something far more dangerous than the Nerkogos. I feel it’s something that’s going to wipe the floor with the hunters.
Shit has indeed gotten real.
Yen reminds me of Todd from Breaking Bad – diplomatic, polite, caring, naive, monstrous…..
Tour de force. I got sad at the death of a character I’d just met, didn’t particularly like, and whom I expected to die anyway. Great job!
Stay light on your toes glass. Keep an eye on both of them. I can promise you the bitch is watching you. If you get a chance and you know they can’t see you, bloody your knife and hand on some of the splatter. That way you can have evidence of minimal participation if the bitch wonders why you weren’t… Read more »
What if when she goes back to stab him he’s not there?
Do you fear that dark abyss, Lutemes? All your deeds laid bare. All your sins punished. I can offer you…an escape. I offer you a choice. Join my crew…and postpone the judgment. One hundred years before the mast. Will ye serve? (please do something like this Yitexity. It would fit the situation and his character so much. Lutemes is the… Read more »
Dude, let them write their story as they want, it’s good that you like lute but if he had to die, so be it, you are pushing it hard
Sorry. Again, I don’t mean to be annoying. I just am genuinely interested in the story and have ideas about how it could develop.
This is ironic. Glass got mad at Zeb for assuming she was just like all the other hunters. Now she has gone and done exactly what he believes hunters do.
I can imagine how that reaction goes:
Zeb: What?
Glass: Now I know this looks bad…
Oooh, neat! Yen’s Circle prayer is kind of an inversion of the Pasturist one we heard from Zeb earlier.
good hustle
It’s called a hustle, sweetheart.
A very interesting moment, Effrenka showing Lutemes a kindness by giving him the photo back, right over his heart.
super peak o7
RIP my twunk Lutemes
He’ll be back!
what
I don’t think Yitexity would introduce a character with a POV and just get rid of them. I think Lutemes is going to come back, with a thirst for vengeance. I’ve always wondered if magic will be added to Tinderkell, and I think this would be a good place to introduce it. Some magic or magic user revives him for… Read more »
Resurrection of the first character to die in this story would certainly be a choice that can easily set a bad precedent.
Only if done wrong, and I think Yitexity has the skills to do it right.
I think bringing Lutemes back through some magical means could be really interesting. Think the curse of the crew of the Black Pearl. They were in a state of limbo: they could not be killed, but could not drink, eat or feel any pleasure. Essentially, something like this happens to him. And this has the ability to transform him from… Read more »
Also, it having him come back with a vengeance would also have some interesting effects on other characters. He becomes a physical rendition of Glass’s guilt, an unstoppable, now magical creature who destroys everything she wants. While he is gunning for her, the idea of a new home is out of the question. Her old fears and threats in Gnomanya… Read more »
Dude you are turning good writing into cheap fanfiction, the culture and setting is pre modern, they rely on tools and machines, why would magic appear on a sudden attack in the night, why didn’t we saw magic before? Or at least some acknowledgment of it?. I think the pov of lute dying serves to show how bad of a… Read more »
Sorry. I don’t mean to turn it into cheap stuff. I genuinely just am interested in the comic and have ideas for how the story could develop. My ideas are more like suggestions or… well, ideas. Things that could be added to the story for various effects. I don’t mean to come across as annoying. I just see potential developments… Read more »
I guess you are right, i just felt that you were almost imposing your headcanon, but it’s okay to share your ideas
