Habitat

Gnomanya

Appearance

The wooly trampler is adapted to Gnomanya’s climate, draped in a shaggy coat of moisture-wicking fur, and equipped with an adze-like beak optimized for grazing in the steppes. It’s beak is part of an ossified carapace that covers its head, called the “skullcap”. The skullcap typically stands out brighter from the drab furs of green, black, grey, and brown, and protects the beast’s head from impacts.

Behavior

The wooly trampler is an intelligent, yet stubborn creature that is often judgmental. While they thrive in the unique climate of Gnomanya, their adaptability tends to dwindle in foreign environments. Trust between a rider and a trampler is paramount; without it, one might find themselves unceremoniously rolled over or, in a more forgiving scenario, bitten off the back of their own steed, given that tramplers can turn their head past 180 degrees. Because of their temperament, tramplers must always grow up with their riders.

Wooly tramplers are excellent climbers, and are often seen scaling trees either for enjoyment or as a form of protest against their riders.

Intelligence

Tramplers live in complex social groups, known as a pulp. They exhibit a few signs of sapience.

  • Being able to recognize their own reflection.
  • Using rudimentary tools.
  • Recognizing a firearm.
  • Can feel malice against a specific faction.

In times of war, tramplers have been known to attack enemies, as well as other hostile tramplers. In many cases, tramplers have even carried their incapacitated rider to safety after they were dismounted.
