Ass Biter

Type

Parasitic Insect

Length

23 in (58.42cm)

Habitat

Gnomanyan Lowlands

Appearance

Ass biters range with a variety of colors. Most are dull colors with with spots or stripes, but in rare cases they can be spotted with a red, pearlescent hue. Their head is composed of two large compound eyes, with a sharp proboscis. It’s wings are black and opaque, and has a large blood-bag, which swells red with the blood they’ve feasted upon.

Behavior

The notorious ass biter earned its name from the habit of biting the asses of armored trampler riders, as they leave their bottoms unarmored to sit on a saddle.

The ass biter is always aggressive and has a preference for ambushing its prey from behind. Very rarely do they bite from the front. Those who encounter an ass biter should listen for the sound of its guttural wing flaps. If attacked by one, it is advised to face it directly. Ass biters are sluggish creatures, so striking them or shooting out of the air is typically done. In the event of a swarm, Gnomanyans recommend forming a tight circle, back to back–what they regionally refer to as “ass to ass.”

The bite itself is described to be hideously painful. While the pain typically subsides after about ten minutes, the venom can lead to mild fevers in hardy Gnomanyans and, to unfortunate foreigners, death.
