15: Follow the path

DjLumi says:

You seem to have been out for a while, maybe a quick hydration check would be a good idea.

Hey, you’ve managed to bring something that’s actually helpful for once!

And yes, this is in fact water… Lovely, salt-free lukewarm water.

Quackapplesauce says:

Look at the sky and find out the time.

Milo says:

Over the course of the day, you could see which direction the sun is moving through the sky. You could use that to get a rough bearing of your cardinal directions.

Looking back at the sky, you think it must be close to midday, more or less.

Tracking the sun would work, though you’ve never really had a problem with your sense of direction. You always could feel the subtle pull of the north. It’s just a neat quirk of your species.

M56 scorpion says:

Are there yummy fruits in the foliage?

Asfasdg says:

maybe make a fire,  they can release smoke up and maybe cause somebody to look for you?

Jhnw2016 says:

Look out for resources, maybe you can find a tool and resources to build with.

Milo says:

Maybe see about fashioning a hat out of palm fronds? Something tropical and jaunty perhaps.

Echinator says:

Fashion a neat poncho out of the palm fronds and bits of twine, my buddy Danny did that when we got stranded at sea that one time.

Your mind teases the prospects of becoming a rugged survivalist. Though while useful to think about, the comfortable warmth of the sun and the gentle breeze isn’t quite inspiring the survival instinct in you just yet.

Also, you are 90% sure donning palm fronds will just make you look more like a Sorya, and Captain Delaford had just attacked you after profiling you as a Sorya agent. That being said, you’ve never seen a Sorya up close, but you have heard Iron ramble about them to no end.

Rick says:

Let’s not immediately go in to wilderness survival goblin mode. Follow the footprints, I’m sure they will lead to some sort of civilization or a potential marooned hermit.

Elias Schmidt says:

Try to find this said person who left the note. Maybe it’s a love letter!

Yeah, you are just going to follow the footprints.

And they’d better hope it’s not a love letter, as you’d have some choice words for the person that would leave you unconscious at a beach but could spare the time to write flattering poetry to someone who can’t read.

Regardless you’d really like to know who saved you, as well as their intentions.

lightningfox89 says:

Footprints? Any idea what species they belong to?

You continue to follow the trail. Upon closer inspection, you can’t determine any species, just a similar size to your own. Whoever was this alleged savior seemed to be wearing some sort of sandals.

You can’t remember the last time you’ve been alone. During your long voyage you’ve gotten accustomed to Iron’s presence. As repulsive as he is, you owe him your life for bringing you this far.

Back home, he was the town drunk. He was actually banned from the tavern you worked at, so he always loitered outside checking discarded bottles. People… didn’t very much care for him. Which is completely understandable; he sometimes chased people when they looked at him funny. But he was always nice to you. And when that incident happened, he risked everything for your safety. Well, he didn’t have much to begin with, but you both almost met your doom escaping Gnomanya. After that, he even went on to stand up for you in front of the captain, and now he is likely in some cell somewhere or worse.

You need to find him soon.

As you exit the bush your gaze wanders away from the trail as something else catches your eyes entirely.

Maybe you aren’t as stranded as you thought.

Lurk on the edge of the clearing of the village, see if you can identify any residents and their species. Also to make sure this isn’t a Delaford/Severan outpost
